Throughout this semester I have worked on various projects using the MyIT Lab and surprisingly enough it was actually pretty nifty. I enjoyed learning how to spiffy up a Powerpoint, as well as how to correctly use Excel. Taking the Hybrid portion of this class was definitely a plus for me, the freedom of having the class online and only having to attend every other friday worked magnificently. While enrolled in this class I chose to join the Gender Equality group which was perfect for me as a self-described feminist. I wish more students would have offered more knowledgable insight on the various prompts, but other than that it was great.
I have really enjoyed reading the various prompts on the UN collaborative project. It has been rather interesting to see how some students reply to the inequalities felt by many around the world.
I chose to join the Gender Equality group. It was actually an easy choice and it just seemed fitting because I am a strong advocate for equal rights. As a proud Feminist I really do not believe their was another option for me I believe in the advancement of women and I think that this is an exciting opportunity. I am intrigued to see some the other students responses as the activity and forum actually get under way .
My initial step would be to identify the actual issue at hand. In this situation that would be the fact that my roommate has been arrested. I would then figure out how this would immediately affect my roommate’s intent to graduate as well as begin their new job. I would then decide my goal in the situation which is to notify the school police that my roommate was indeed drowsy due to medication rather than public drunkenness. My next step in the solution would be to find evidence, while generating my solution in the room of what had actually occurred, I would probably locate a bottle of prescriptions or have the dentist notify the school if necessary. After analyzing my solution I believe it is clear that it is relevant to the situation at hand. I am sure after the misunderstanding was brought to the attention of the campus police it would be clear that my solution had positive benefits in helping my friend get out of the misunderstanding that he or she was in.
This has nothing to do with LTEC, but it has everything to do with the fight. Equality or die.

I actually enjoy working within a group when all of the members are competent. I tend to take on forms of leadership because that is where I feel most comfortable. I realize that I cannot always be in control but I find it hard to relinquish power because I want everything to go as planned. I believe in the saying ” If you want something done right you have to do it yourself”. I know that I need to loosen up in order to be successful in the real world.
I seem to be doing well so far in this semester. I currently have a 3.5 gpa and I hope to make the College of Education Dean’s List for the fall. All of my classes are pretty painless, although I have always struggled in math and that is still the case as of now. I believe the best thing for me to do is probably invest in a tutor, I just never seem to have the time or patience to make it happen. To ensure that I continue to do well in my studies I definitely need to give math a little TLC.
I currently own a HP desktop for personal use as well as a Dell laptop for when I am on the go. I use my Blackberry for quick access to the internet and emails. I enjoy the use of all of these electronics as they make my life much easier but I also feel as though some of the new Social Networks that are attached to them are an invasion of privacy. I rebuke the idea of Facebook as a way of life and Twitter as a universal necessity. It saddens me when I leave my phone at home on accident and I feel naked without it, I am frightened of the way technology is taking over everyone’s world. I guess I would consider purchasing an iPhone or Mac if small children in China actually got paid for creating them……
I try to set my goals at attainable levels. If I expect to get a 96 on a test and I end up making a 98 I am pleased. Of course it is always a little disappointing when you think your going to achieve one thing and the outcome is less than desired. Nonetheless, I try to keep my goals at reachable levels, but I don’t think that there is anything wrong with dreaming beyond what is tangible at that given time.
On average the comics I located online pertaining to the internet, seemed to poke fun at the use of the internet for almost everything. Even mundane task such as “How do I lose weight without having to excercise ? ” are searchable. I think a common topic was the idea that everyone in this era is technologically sound, which is obviously not so. I think you would be hard pressed to find senior citizens who regularly use Facebook or Twitter to socialize while on the contrary you would find it just as difficult to find young adults who do not use these outlets several times a day. I was startled to find that More Tech News.com stated internet users spend more time on Facebook than Google. While on YouTube I located a video entitled “How mobile phones and the Internet are changing lives in East Africa. The video spoke of how farmers and traders are able to communicate about prices, public need and locale of desired goods, this is obviously much more lucrative in my opinion in comparison to the everyday social network. Fora.tv.com had a very interesting segment entitled Six Easy Steps to Avert the Collapse of civilization chap 28. The question brought up was, What will occur when the internet is (and it will be) used as a form of terrorism ie. downloadable viruses etc. Will all hell literally break loose ? As you can see many of the comic strips showed an overwhelmingly sarcastic attitude towards the internet.
